Welcome to the
Danish Adult Education Association

This site covers basic information on the DAEA and an introduction to our current main priorities, real competencies and democracy.

Rød pilPrior learning/real competencies

The liberal adult education organisations provide the public with more than knowledge and practical skills: The participants also learn abstract skills such as concept development, collaboration skills, taking care of our own health and much, much more.
We call this knowledge and these skills ‘real competencies’.
Real competencies comprise one of DAEA’s focus areas.

Rød pilEducate Democracy

The cartoon crisis became a task and an area of opportunity for Danish adult education. DAEA  therefore decided to turn focus on democratic values in Denmark. The campaign is called “Educate Democracy”.
We focus on Danish democratic values: How do we define our values and how do we deal with diversity. The methods to be used are education, cultural contact and dialogue.

Rød pilInput to work on second Action Plan on Adult Learning
Danish input til EU action plan
• The three main tracks of Danish non-formal adult education as they are defined by the Danish Adult Education Associations (DAEA) and its member organizations.
• The results of the work of the governmental appointed commission on non-formal adult education in Denmark
• The changes in the law on non-formal adult education (in Danish: folkeoplysning), which came out of the political process on the basis of the recommendations of the commission

This is the content of three page letter that the DAEA sent to Alan Smith, Grundtvig Coordinator
Deputy Head of Unit EAC-B3 Adult Education, European Commission, in late May 2011.
The letter was written as an input to the work, going at the moment, of preparing a second Action Plan on Adult Learning.
