Objects and tasks

The object of Danish Adult Education Association is to ensure the best possible conditions for adult education associations and the member organisations in order for their users to get the best experience possible when participating in adult education activities.

DAEA enables its organisations to cooperate and create forums at which the different interests and opinions can be communicated.

DAEA looks after the interest of adult education through dialogue and by documenting the importance of the efforts of adult education in order to enable an obvious involvement of adult education when finding solutions to social challenges.

The general lines of DAEA are indicated in the document “Future adult education - a policy paper” which was approved by the DAEA board of representatives on November 1, 2004.  The paper indicates:

That non-formal adult education has five core values:

· Openness

· Democracy

· Holistic approach to the person

· Thorough study

· Self organisation

That the responsibilities of DAEA are:

· To raise the profile of, and to document that non-formal adult education can provide citizens with solutions to the challenges which they are facing from society.

· To ensure the best possible conditions under which the member-organisations can meet the challenges and create actions to implement the set of values of non-formal adult education

· To ensure that society understands the importance of non-formal adult education

· To be the umbrella body that creates the framework within which the non-formal adult education sector can cooperate

That DAEA is to intensify its efforts within three main areas:

· Development and collection of experience data

· Lobbyism and communication

· Networking and co-operation
